The hat has a Chinese saying on it something to the effect of "If you haven't been to the Great Wall, you're not a real man." I guess that settles that.

Parts of the wall are extremely steep. Thankfully I have the strength and stamina of an Olympic athlete. (I am leaning on the step only to pose for the picture, honest.)
