Media Bias on Abortion

Craig Bedward

Sometimes media bias is so blatant it almost takes the fun out of pointing it out. Almost.

Last May (2002), a story broke about the epidemic of minors having abortions that were made pregnant by older men. (Planned Parenthood concealing crimes?) There are huge numbers of these cases, which constitute statutory rape, that go unreported by Planned Parenthood and others, despite the fact that they are required by law to report it.

An investigation was done by Life Dynamics (www.LifeDynamics.com) out of Texas. They called abortion clinics all around the country. A woman posing as an underage girl asked if she could have an abortion without being reported. Time after time, they advised her to not to bring the topic up. If they don't know, they don't have to report it. They even made sure to not get her name in the phone call, so they could avoid the law.

In their report, Life Dynamics stated "among girls 15 and younger who become pregnant, between 60 percent and 80 percent of them are impregnated by adult men." This is a big story. An organization that casts itself as a "protector of rights" is enabling child rape.

Here is how the event was reported by the major media. These are actual headlines:

ABC News: Abortion foes seek to lure staff into legal limbo in deceptive calls
Telegram: Abortion activists use deceptive calls to expose violation of state laws
Columbus Dispatch: Teen imposter lures abortion clinics into legal trap
Dallas Morning News: Protests Stifled--Abortion Foes Change Tactics
Houston Chronicle: Abortion foes make deceptive calls to clinics
New Haven Register: Planned Parenthood clinics caught in anti-abortion snare
New York Times: Abortion Foes Reveal Deceptive Tactic
Patriot News: Abortion foes try deceptive tactics
Star Telegram: Abortion Foes Entice Clinics to Break Law

How about some new headlines:

Media Refuse to Report Truth, Protect Killing of Babies
Media Attempt to Attract Attention Away from Real Story
Newspapers Ignore Crime, Attack Those Reporting It
Crimes Must Be Ignored, Abortion Too Important
Tactic Normally Clever, Is Deceptive When Used Against Abortion Clinics
Babies Die, Media Silent; Clinics Called, Media Outraged
Hey Look Over Here! This Is Where The Real Story Is!
Law Unimportant. Killing Babies is Paramount.
