Are Conservatives Still Allowed in the Republican Party? Steve Gauthier Dear Republican Party Leaders, Just over nine months left until Election Day and I have no candidate to vote for that espouses the conservative values that I believe make this country the greatest nation in the world. I have been an official Republican for many years now but have always been a conservative. In fact, this year, I am running for Republican Precinct Committeeman in my district. However, the closer I get to that election and the November election the more I feel separated from the party that I thought I could trust. The Republican Party has long since forgotten what the founders believed made this nation great. They have long since ignored the conservatives within the party. They have long since shifted the focus towards obtaining power and have forgotten principles of conservatism. I
stand at the threshold of my tolerance for the liberal positions that the
Republican Party has taken on countless issues over the last five or more
years. Republicans hold a majority and yet, TEMPORARY Tax Cuts are the
best we have gotten. Our President has taken a very bold and honorable
stand against those that would call the But, where is any of that domestically. Why is it that he cannot simply stand up and tell the American people the truth – Government is inefficient and ineffective, it cannot give what it does not first take away!! We have seen an enormous expansion in number of Federal employees, growth in Federal spending and increases in Federal Regulation. The latest budget is astronomical!! I read that program cuts amount to nearly 4.9 billion dollars – a measly .2% of the entire budget. All the while we are spending over 500 billion in the RED – just this year. Where does this leave me and thousands of other conservatives? Quite frankly, as I speak with my friends and conservative acquaintances, we are now out searching. Searching for a true leader and a party that will have the conviction to face the American people, tell them the truth and let the election bring what may. Searching to find a morning where we wake up and know that the country is not on the fast track to socialism. Searching for solutions to problems predicted by our founding fathers. This
letter may fall to deaf ears within the party, but I am confident that a
conservative uprising will not be quelled by the reelection of a
republican majority again. They have let us down too many times. We shall
not be fooled again. Sincerely,
Steven
