Projects
- Flight
Simulator

|
This
is a flight simulator I worked on for Tecnova. The client,
MPC
Products Corp., built the cockpit and provided the
controls. Since MPC builds aircraft controls, many of
the control inputs are real. I worked on software and integration of the flight
controls into Microsoft Flight Simulator.
The
simulator was built and donated by MPC to the Challenger
Learning Center in Woodstock, IL.

The system consists of:
- Eight Dell 1.7GHz Pentium
4's networked together to control a projected image,
multiple glass cockpit displays, control inputs, and
output indicators.
- Three wide-angle projectors project a
wrap-around view of almost 180°.
- Five glass cockpit displays show live
instrument and navigation data.
- The center console houses the
throttle, flaps, and spoiler controls. All the
controls and the console itself are real; they are
built by MPC for the Boeing 717.
- The seats are from a retired
aircraft.
- The cockpit shell is a fiberglass
replica.
- Along with custom software, there are
many off-the-shelf components:
